This work is in generally good overall condition. The bearing is slightly wavy by the upper corners. There are few little scratches partially visible in the catalogue illustration on the paper: on the first panel of the diptique by the center of lower margin with minor losses; on the second panel along left upper margin both in the white pigment with minor losses and in the green area of the leaves and by upper right corner. There is a little indentation mark on the second panel to the right lower part of the trunk. There is one craquelure under the leaves towards the center.

Nel 1962 Schifano compie il suo primo viaggio negli Stati Uniti, invitato da Sidney Janis alla mostra The New Realism. 
Nel brillante clima di New York viene ospitato i primi tempi dai Signori Bebee, cugini di Anita Pallenberg, attrice e modella, sua compagna di allora. Sarà proprio il signor Beebe a mostrare interesse  e ad acquistare diversi dipinti di Schifano alla sua prima personale newyorkese tenuta presso la Galleria Odyssia nel '64, compresa quest'opera eseguita nel 1963. Si tratta infatti di una delle primissime rappresentazioni di un soggetto che  apparirà successivamente nel lavoro di Schifano, spesso con il titolo di Vero amore. Gli omaggi alla natura se pur filtrati da altri fattori, basti pensare a tutta la serie di En plein air eseguita sempre a New York nel 1964 e a Beebe's garden summer esposto alla Biennale di Venezia nel 1964 (ulteriore conferma del sodalizio tra Schifano e la famiglia Beebe, è un titolo puramente immaginato, non esiste un giardino, un luogo reale) si ripetono costantemente nel lavoro di Schifano.
