Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original, with more prominent flesh tones to the figure's chest and face in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are a number of fine and stable cracks to the figure's chest, around the base, to the figure's elbows, and in a few isolated places to the yellow drape. Around the base, a few extremely light media splashes are visible on close inspection. There is an inconsistent patch of pink pigment to the top of the figure's left shoulder, with a few minor specks of paint loss, which fluoresces under ultra-violet light. Further examination under ultra-violet light reveals a few retouchings around the base, to the bottom of the yellow drape, to the bottom of the top part of the yellow drape, to the figure's chest and to the figure's left elbow.
