Catalogue Note

The precise drawing, meticulous execution, and sophisticated use of color in this carpet are hallmarks of the high quality of Tabriz production often referred to as the work of Haji Jalili.  Here the lobed medallion floats on an unusual, soft blue-green field of sinuous flowering branches.  All is then framed by a very orderly border of cypress trees and shrubs with the design perfectly turning the corners, another characteristic of the best workshop carpets.
