Description

Provenance

Collection Emile Guimet, référence EG 973. Dans la famille depuis.

Condition

There is an old repair to the upper section of the mat, below the band of lotus petals supporting the globe (a line is showing on the illustration in the catalogue). A hairline crack is extending vertically from this break onto the lotus petals with small repaints. The plug on the top of the globe was probably originally made of porcelain and is now replaced with a later wood and carved jade shou medallion knob. There is some rubbing to the gilding along the upper edge of the base and around the aperture on top of the globe. The inside of the globe is of a light turquoise tone.
