Condition
Apart from some very slight bowing to the upper and lower right corners, the panel is in very good condition. There are a few very minor flecks of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the satchel strap, a fleck to the hair of the boy on the right, and a few flecks running along the lower right edge. Apart from a few spots of loss to the varnish at the lower centre and lower right, some minor frame rubbing running along the right edge and some scattered very fine craquelure, this work is in good condition, with rich colours and fine detail, and ready to hang. Held in a very decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame with an inscription of the artist's name, under glass.
