Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. This painting is in good condition. The canvas has been lined with wax and is sufficient at this time and there appear to be no major restorations. The paint layer has been selectively cleaned, leaving original varnish over the darker areas of the figure's hair and under her folded arm. Under ultraviolet light there are some very small restorations visible in the figure's neck, arms and hand. Even though these restorations are quite small, they seem to be addressing even smaller paint losses. There is a diagonal restoration measuring approximately 2 ½ inches in the figure's belt tie and two further restorations on the right side of the window. There are also a few small restorations in the lower left corner and in the column, also addressing very small paint losses. All of the restorations appear to have been more broadly applied than is necessary and could be applied more accurately if required. Overall the painting is in good condition.
