Condition

The sculpture has a brown patina. There are some light scratches underneath the right breast of the woman, some small bruises on her tummy, on her hip and two more on the drapery on the back. The overall condition as to the state of preservation is very good.

Catalogue Note

Questo bozzetto raffigura la ninfa dei fiumi sotterranei, una delle quattro naiadi componenti la decorazione della fontana in piazza Esedra a Roma. Il progetto e l'elaborazione di questo gruppo scultoreo vennero commissionati all'artista palermitano Mario Rutelli nel 1897. Le sculture furono posizionate nel 1901, mentre il Glauco centrale trovò posto solo nel 1912.

Un bozzetto completo con timbro di fonderia Laganà, Napoli, è stato venduto da Sotheby's a Milano nel dicembre 2007 per € 45.850.
