first edition. The Jesuit priest Galanus was sent by the Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fide first to the Caucasus to learn Armenian, and then in 1640 to Constantinople for the purpose of converting Armenians to Catholicism. In 1650 he published Conciliatio ecclesiæ armenæ cum romana.
