- A Marble Figure of Goddess or Muse
- height with circa 18th century European base 34 in.
- 86.4 cm
standing in a graceful attitude with her weight moving forward onto her right leg, and wearing high-soled sandals and a chiton with belt below her breasts, long folds of drapery falling to the pedestal behind.

Catalogue Note
In her restored state the figure wore a crescentic diadem and stood with her right arm relaxed and a theater mask in her extended left hand; she was therefore identified as a Muse, either as Thalia, the Muse of Comedy, or as Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy.
