  • the figures: 43 to 20 cm.
the subjects being mostly composers, musicians and actors including Berlioz, Batta, Vestris, Strauss, Caraffa, Wellington, Lord Brougham, Paganini and others, altogether circa 30; also combined with six plaster cups in Baroque style, bracket supports, some figures broken, most bearing the red wax seal of Jules Sohn



Jean-Pierre Dantan (1800-1869) was a French sculptor, best remembered for his portraits of men of political, artistic and musical fame. His renderings en caricature found great appeal, parallel to those by his contemporary Honoré Daumier.



Condition

Most items in overall good condition with some smaller chips, abrasion, marks and scratches. Slightly soiled. Few items with larger breaks (extremties, heads) and losses. Few minor repairs. Will be sold as is.
