Condition

The actual painting is a bit warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel is bevelled along all edges except for the left side and consists of one plank. The paint surface is in good condition. A minor dent is visible upper left as well as some pinpoint spots of paint loss in the lower centre. The paint surface is under a transparent, but slightly yellowed varnish layer. Inspection under UV-light is largely impeded by the varnish layer, but reveals areas of retouching in the sky throughout as well as minor strengthening of the figures. Otherwise no damages become apparent. The painting is offered in an ornate, gilt wood frame, in good condition.

Catalogue Note
