This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. There are traces of stable craquelures along the margins. As visible in the catalogue illustration there is a light trace of threadlike craquelure with a minor hole and retouch by the centre of the upper margin. There is a little paint loss towards the upper right corner visible in the catalogue illustration. There are two small retouchings by the centre of the lower edge and by the lower left corner visible under UV light, and one minor and unobtrusive hole with a trace of craquelure by the centre of the upper margin.

"Dapprima appone frammenti di vetro su tele monocrome bucate secondo il motivo di ordinate orditure ritmiche (...) ma nel 1954 e 1955 da simili soluzioni relativamente semplici Fontana giunge invece a  una sorta di grande stile articolando le Pietre stesse in costellazioni ricche anche di macchie e concentrazioni materiche, informi, e con l'effetto di un'ulteriore allusività siderea..."
