Description

the circular-shaped box with a slightly domed cover finely chased and engraved with a central five-petalled flower radiating a design of conjoined and interlaced stylised scrolls of flowers and palmettes, reserved on a ring-matted ground, bordered with a thin gilded band, the sides with a wide band of continuous scrolling foliage, with three birds alternating with animals on a densely ring-matted ground

Condition

Moderate wear to surface, good definition to engraved detail, slight losses to gilding on leaves of cover, pinpoint hole to upper edge of side of cover, a few scattered dark spots to exterior - largest approx 3mm, underside of cover with scattered areas of irregular granulation particularly around inner rim, cover does not fit base completely snugly - slight overhang on edge.
