Description

Each suspending an oval padparadscha weighing 13.99 and 12.12 carats respectively, amid a basket fully encrusted with circular-cut pink sapphires, to articulated double chains set with brilliant-cut diamonds highlighted by circular-cut pink sapphires, anchored by two briolette diamonds altogether weighing approximately 2.35 carats, enhanced to the surmount by an oval diamond ear stud altogether weighing approximately 2.05 carats, the pink sapphires and diamonds altogether weighing approximately 8.30 and 2.50 carats respectively, mounted in 18 karat pink and blackened gold, clip and post fittings, photographed unmounted.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to GRS reports, both padparadscha sapphires are natural, of Ceylon origin, with no indications of thermal treatment. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the padparadscha sapphires are matching, of soft orangy pink colour, clean to naked eyes. Upon close look, one stone shows a feather close to right-hand bottom. Under 10x loupe, there are some fingerprints and crystal inclusions. One stone has two tiny and shallow surface pits on its table, but all these clarity features are not seen when worn. Two oval diamonds together weighing approximately 2.00 carats, are of G to H colours, VS clarity. Briolette and round diamonds together weighing approximately 4.65 carats, are probably of H to I colours, VS to SI1 clarity. Pink sapphires weighing approximately 7.70 carats, are very soft purplish pink colour, eye clean. Condition: Fancy earring mounts, in excellent condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
