Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1958 and sale on June 14th, 1961.

Reference 1463 was produced from 1940 until circa 1965. One of the most coveted of all Patek Philippe chronograph references, it is especially favoured for its water-resistant type case with rounded pushers and screw-down case back. The cases of the reference 1463 were made for Patek Philippe by Taubert (formerly Frerès Borgel) who were specialised in the manufacture of first quality water-resistant type watch cases. The addition of a dust or humidity proof cover further helped to protect the watch movement. For an archive image of a reference 1463, see Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p.267, pl.412.

Gübelin, a family owned company, was founded in 1854 in Lucerne, Switzerland, and have been retailing renowned watches and clocks ever since.
