Catalogue Note

rare. Bory led a colourful life as a soldier, duellist, botanist and traveller. He was leader of this state-sponsored expedition to the Morea, having previously conducted researches in the Canaries and Mauritius.

Weber records this work with 17 plates, which may be an error, however the copy present here in its original wrappers and uncut appears to be complete with 13 (including the map); although there is no plate number 8, there are two different plates numbered 10.
