Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The medium is water-based gilding over a clay-based, gesso-like underlayer. With water-based gilding, there will naturally be some minor and faint inconsistencies in the application of the gilding in areas such as the deep crevices of the design. In some of these places, the reddish clay-based underlayer is slightly visible. There have been some minor restorations to loss in the gilding and underlayer located as follows: ---two losses on the interior lips of the flower located on the far left as illustrated in the catalogue --a 1 ½ inch retouch along the bottom edge of the scroll design on the lower right of the bottom edge.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
