Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is softer and more muted in the original, with the background tending more to an ochre hue, and the brighter pink strands more to raspberry red. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The sheet is securely attached to a backing board at intervals on the reverse. The paper surface is undulating slightly and there are several tiny artist's pinholes at the four extreme corners. In the top left corner these have resulted in a small tear. There is a further small tear to the top of the composition, left of the cluster of strands. These as well as other unobtrusive surface irregularities appear to be original to the work's execution.
