Description

  • A Greek Gold Thigh-Band
  • Length 14 in. 35.6 cm.; Herakles knot 1 in. 2.5 cm.
with braided chain of cylindrical section terminating at each end in the head of a woman with melon coiffure and collar of beads and tongues, the clasp in the form of a Herakles Knot with central rosette and ends terminating in lion heads.

Leo Biaggi de Blasys (1906-1979), acquired in Switzerland in the 1950s/1960s
by descent to the present owner

Condition

two petals missing from central rosette, four tongues missing from collar of one of female heads, minor dents and indentations along rounded ridge of Herakles knot, inlays lost, otherwise good
