STRUCTURE: Unlined. SURFACE: Loses of paint appear along the edges mainly on the left and top where the frame has rubbed on the canvas. Stretcher marks are visible along the top, lthe eft and right hand sides. There are one or two areas of old retouchings that have discoloured in the sky, these are mainly on the left hand side. On the reverse there are two corresponding patches. UV LIGHT: Under UV Light heavy restoration appears along the far left and far right and top edges where old paint loses have occurred and have been retouched. A few flecks of retouching appear at the base of the mountains and to the left of the heron. There is evidence of a 2½ inch horizontal repair in the central sky that corresponds with a patch on the reverse. Further down the central sky a circular repair occurs approximately ½ inch circular. There is also a further diagonal repair up to the left which is approximately one inch long. A few tiny spots elsewhere in the sky. COLOUR COMPARISON: The colours are warmer and stronger than the catalogue illustration suggests.
