Les célèbres broderies veloutées, dites "velours du Kasaï", étaient réalisées par les Shoowa - ethnie Kuba du nord du Congo - pour servir de dot, de linceuls, de tapis de sièges ou de sol. La composition de leur décor peut varier à l'infini.
