  • A BIEGE SANDSTONE STELE REPRESENTING A SEATED VAISHNAVI, CENTRAL INDIAN, 12th CENTURY
  • 62cm high
depicted seating in lalitasana upon a Vidyadhara with halo and wearing earrings, necklaces and a precious waistband, the upper arms are holding two gadas or clubs, the three left and the three right middle arms are holding chakras, while the lower left arm is holding a shanka or conch shell and the lower right arm is in varada mudra, the base carved on three receding layers, with a lotus decoration on the central section, surrounded by figures of female attendants and mythical beasts.
