Condition

The colours are richer in tone than as shown in the catalogue illustration. The copper plate is flat the paint surface quite well preserved. The blue tunic of the rightmost soldier and the red cloak of the kneeling magus have been strengthened. There is a series of small restored losses in the sky, a small restored loss under the Virgin's chin and inspection under ultra-violet light reveals a few further minor scattered restorations throughout. The varnish is thick and quite uneven.
