Description

  • Two autograph letters signed ("R. Schumann"; "Robert Schumann")
1) to Dr. Klitzsch, discussing the programme of a proposed concert, suggesting works by Mozart, Bach Cherubini, Mendelssohn and, as encore, a song for chorus and wind instruments which he composed a few weeks ago, noting that he doubts whether he will be strong enough to conduct the whole concert, but will try if the public is likely to react unfavourably to this, only partly published, 4 pages, 8vo, Dresden, 10 June 1847, creasing

2) to Dr. Klitzsch, informing him of the sad news of the death of his one-and-a-half-year-old son Emil, requesting that the proposed concert be postponed by eight to fourteen days, by which time he expects his wife to be fully recovered, 1 page, 8vo, integral blank, Dresden, 22 June 1847
