Description

Set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing 7.20 carats, dressed with brilliant-cut diamond-set swirls, mounted in platinum and 18 karat yellow gold, signed and numbered TF2208.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gubelin report, the ruby is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of thermal enhancement. It is of red colour, considered as "pigeon's blood" colour in trade. Also accompanied by a special appendix stating that the ruby possesses an outstanding quality, in terms of colour, clarity and make. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the diamonds are of about F to G colours, VS clarity. Condition: Very delicate mounting, which helps showing the perfection of this ruby, in mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Ring size: 4½

Accompanied by Gübelin report numbered 0606595, dated 3 July 2006, stating that the 7.20 carat ruby is natural, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating. Rubies which have not been heated are scarce. This colour variety of ruby may also be called "pigeon's blood red" in the trade.
