SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, 1930s

Description

Set to the centre with a rectangular mixed-cut sapphire flanked by two calibré-cut stones within surrounds of circular- and single-cut diamonds, size H ½.

Condition

Bright, lively diamonds, some with cavities or chips visible only with magnification. Evidence of re-sizing, shank might have been replaced, traces of gold solder to underside of each shoulder, not visible when worn. Sapphires a medium blue with moderately strong saturation of colour, well matched. The principal stone measuring approximately 9.9mm x 6.9mm x 4.8, estimated to weigh approximately 3.93 carats, chips to each corner and one side. In good condition.
