Description

In golf’s storied history, few events rival Francis Ouimet’s stunning victory in the 1913 US Open when Ouimet, a virtually unknown 20 year-old amateur, won the national title by defeating the two greatest British professionals of their day, Harry Vardon and Ted Ray. This original photograph of Ouimet and an unidentified lady friend is taken from the lens of the remarkable George S. Pietzcker, golf’s greatest photographer and official photographer for the USGA for many years. It measures 8” by 10” and is professionally matted and framed to 14” by 17 1/2”. The photographer's embossed studio stamping is readily apparent. Ouimet’s seldom seen vintage ink signature rates a perfect 10. LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
