Description

oval with wave-edged rim, the lid painted en plein with a cluster of summer flowers and musical instruments on a translucent pale pink ground over sunburst engine-turning within a rose diamond-set frame, the border mounted with paste-set flowerheads and leafy scrolls, the azure ground and sides decorated with further flowers, the base with a trophy of vari-coloured flags, flowers and drums

Condition

The enamel of the sides and base is in excellent order, apart from minor surface scratches to the base. The lid has been off and is re-pinned. There is discolouration to some of the stones, as visible in the catalogue photo. The lid border mounts and some of the its pastes have been re-glued. The central lid panel with a small abrasion (approx 2mm) at left edge, and an area of glue residue at right edge.
