COLLECTION OF GEM-SET AND DIAMOND JEWELLERY, PORTUGUESE MID 18TH CENTURY AND LATER

Description

Comprising: a demi-parure; the pendant of open work floral and foliate design, set with foil backed pear- and cushion-shaped pink topaz and rose-cut diamonds, together with a pair of pendent earrings en suite, original hinged fittings, mid 18th century; a pendant of open work scroll and floral design, set with pear- and cushion-shaped foil backed citrine and rose-cut diamonds, later brooch fitting, mid 18th century; a watch key with an oval glazed image to each face bordered by cushion-shaped chrysoberyls and a gold bead work surround, late 18th century; together with a pair of ear pendants, each surmount composed of a quatrefoil of circular-cut topaz, suspending a graduated trio of similarly-cut topaz of golden tint, original hinged shepherd's crook hook fittings, early 19th century.

Condition

Topaz and diamond demi-parure, stones bright and lively, diamonds appear greyish due to foil backing, original earring fittings to reverse, topaz pear drop in pendant with large conchoidal chip. Citrine and diamond pendant, with later brooch pin to reverse, stones bright and lively, some oxidization to silver. Topaz earrings, with original fittings to reverse, both earrings with traces of lead solder where drops attach to tops, and with later suspension loops to both drops. Watch key, with original portrait miniature to one side and heavy abrasions to glass cover, later replacement paper print to the other with later perspex cover.
