Description

The necklace designed as a series of graduated clusters, each centring on a cultured pearl within stylised floral surrounds of brilliant-cut diamonds, supporting at the front a cultured pearl drop dressed by a diamond-set cap, together with a pair of ear pendants of similar design, necklace length approximately 395mm, cultured pearl drop detachable, pair of ear pendants with clip and post fittings, cultured pearl drops detachable, fitted case.

Condition

Estimated total diamond weight in necklace and earrings stated to be 23.85 carats, colour F, clarity VS1. Cultured pearls in necklace graduated in size from approximately 3.80 mm - 9.35 mm with a creamy bodycolour on the whole, the central largest cultured pearl more white in colour, several with rosé overtones, medium to high lustre, very clean skins on the whole, a few with surface blemishes and wrinkling. The central South Sea cultured pearl drop measures approximately 12.4 mm from cap, medium lustre with a clean skin. The cultured pearls in the earrings are well matched in colour the drops a little whiter, rosé overtones, medium to high lustre, small pits and cultivation marks to drops not visible from the front. Traces of glue to back of majority of cultured pearls, not visible when worn. Ear pendants each with strong clip fittings. Safety catch to reverse of necklace. Gold tooled leather fitted case with two catches in very good condition. Demi-parure in excellent condition.

Catalogue Note

The following parure is a replica of the Jubilee Necklace, which was presented to Queen Victoria at the Jubilee of 1887 using the residue of money subscribed for the building of the Albert Memorial. Consisting of a series of diamond trefoils, the Jubilee Necklace only differs in the addition of a diamond crown surmounting the central quatrefoil plaque.
