Description

The rectangular black ostrich leather exterior centring on a clasp of geometric design, the mother-of-pearl and black enamel frame accented with millegrain collet-set rose-cut diamonds, to a rotating cabochon coral clasp, opening to reveal a black suede interior applied with three smaller pockets and a pochette containing a lined mirror, measurements approximately: length 205mm, width 147mm, depth from 17mm to 65mm, signed Cartier Paris and numbered to clasp, French assay marks and import marks, case by Cartier Paris.

Condition

Please note that the ostrich leather bag is a modern replacement, only the clasp is original. French assay marks for 18 carat gold. The mother-of-pearl a little discoloured to edges, some light scratches. Diamonds lively and well matched. Some damage to the enamel border, some restoration to the enamel. Coral cabochon clasp with slight scratches consistent with use, colour banding and structure lines both characteristic of coral. Smooth revolving movement to open and close the clasp. Signed Cartier Paris, numbered 1042, to coral section. Original hinged case Cartier, Paris. Wooden box covered in red fabric tooled with gold, each corner with a little damage with the wood showing through, some other small tears, lined with water stained silk, torn at hinge. Loose clasp.
