  • Collection of material including six original illustrations from "alice's adventures in wonderland" comprising:
i) White Rabbit ("Took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket" [p.10]), 165 by 110mm, signed with initials and dated "H.R. | 07"; ii) White Rabbit ("Hurried On" [p.11]), 170 by 130mm., signed with initials and dated "H.R. | 07"; iii) Bill the Lizard ("Up I goes like a sky-rocket" [p.74]), 235 by 115mm., signed with initials "H.R."; iv) Caterpillar ("It is a very good height indeed!" [p.94]), 215 by 110mm., signed with initials and dated "H.R. | 07"; v) Queen and Baby ("she kept tossing the baby violently up and down" [p.114]), 170 by 80mm., signed with initials and dated "H.R. 07"; vi) Gryphon and Lobster ("Swim after them!" [p.190]), 155 by 156mm., signed "Harry Rountree"; all ink and watercolour drawings, most with additional pencil annotation, some with residue from former mounts, some browning and soiling; vi) Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Nelson, [1908], presentation copy inscribed by the artist, coloured illustrations by Harry Rountree, original pictorial cloth, extensive repairs and recased; vii) Rountree's mahl stick, 340mm in length, comprising chamois leather covered ball, wooden shaft and nickel silver end, tarnished and dented; viii) photograph of Rountree seated in his studio painting, 112 by 157mm., mounted on wood; ix) Me and Jimmy. Warne, 1929, 15 coloured plates and other illustrations by Harry Rountree, original pictorial boards, binding worn with upper joint split; x) Ronald, Rupert and Reg. Harry Rountree's edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was one of the flurry of editions immediately after the lapse of copyright in 1907. The publishers were to reprint the edition many times.
