Condition

Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original, with the blue-black tending more to a deep purple. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is very light wear to all four extreme corners with a minute spot of paint loss to the top right and bottom left hand corners. Upon very close inspection there are networks of extremely fine and stable drying craquelure to some of the purple painted areas of the composition. There are two tiny hairline tension cracks with associated paint lifting to the bottom right hand corner. There is a diagonal hairline crack to the bottom left hand corner and one to the bottom right hand corner which would appear to have been professionally stabilised. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
