Description

  • An Etruscan Red-figured Column Krater
  • Height 9 3/4 in. 24.8 cm.
one side of the body decorated with the profile head of a young satyr facing left and wearing a diadem, the other side with the profile head of a woman facing left and wearing a necklace and disk-and-pendant earring, her hair bound in fillet tied in front and surmounted by a stephane, three palmettes in each handle zone, a lattice pattern with interspersed crosses on the neck, a basketry pattern on top of the rim.

Condition

good, one set of handles broken and repaired, small chips and areas of flaking inpainted on handles and foot, minor areas of abrasion especially on right side of satyr's head and on top of rim, small patch of misfiring around satyr's head
