Catalogue Note
This work was given by Corot to Madame Malpiéce who then gave the work to M. Alfred Robaut. On May 13, 1883, when sending M. Robaut the picture, Mme. Malpiéce wrote, "Le Matin is a view of the surroundings of Grez near Fontainebleau, which was made for me in 1867-68."
