Description

  • APK monogram mark in red

  • height 12 cm (2)
attributed to Pieter Kocx at 'De Grieksche A', of spherical form, with loop handle and short straight spout, the body and domed cover attractively painted with cherubs in flight among flowering forget-me-nots against the mirror blackground

Catalogue Note

See Van Dam 2004, p. 121, fig. 71, where a closely comparable teapot also attributed to Pieter Kocx, now in the Rijksmuseum (inv. no. KB-NM-12400-265), is illustrated. This teapot is decorated in the same fashion by first applying the polychrome decoration and then filling in the white background in black.
