34-cm engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Gerrit ter Vooren Amsterdam, foliate pierced hands and engraved alarm disc, subsidiary seconds, apertures for day, date, month and moonphase, painted deities below above a painted theatrical opening revealing the automaton of five ships and a whale rocking to and fro’ on a choppy sea with connection to the going train of the anchor movement, rack Dutch quarter striking and alarm on two bells, burr walnut veneered case with bell top surmounted by a giltwood atlas and two angels, ogee arched cornice with carved ornament above foliate pierced wood frets, brass capped three quarter columns flanking the break arch glazed door, canted corners to the trunk, long shaped door with chequered inlaid banding and Europe lenticle, similar inlaid base with curbed knees on the canted corners, heavy moulded plinth raised on ball feet
