Catalogue Note

Giandomenico Tiepolo seems to have used this drawing by his father for the head of S. Pietro Orseolo in his altarpiece Four Olivetan Saints, now in the Museo Civico, Verona (see Adriano Mariuz, Giandomenico Tiepolo, Venice 1971, p. 147, plate 267).  Lorenzo Tiepolo also copied it, adding a hood and transforming it into The Head of an Old Woman (see Tiepolo: a Bicentenary Exhibition, exhibition catalogue, Cambridge Mass., Fogg Art Museum, 1970, cat. no. 69).
