two bifolia, (a) a bifolium from a noted Breviary or small Antiphoner, 188mm. by 311mm. altogether, most of 11 lines, written in a small romanesque bookhand (feast of the Roman martyrs, SS. Paul and John, 26 June), music in ‘Beneventan’ neumes with a single line in red, a large decorated initial ‘P’ in leafy design infilled with yellow, central Italy (perhaps Rome), first half of the twelfth century; and (b) a bifolium from a small Antiphoner, 334mm. by 455mm. altogether, 9 lines of text in a rounded hand and of neumes on a single red stave, small red initials, large decorated initial ‘A’ in leafy design infilled with green and blue, northern Italy (perhaps Lombardy), late twelfth century; both recovered from bindings and worn
