Catalogue Note
In 1920 Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock IV"won the first two of the three races needed for victory but was denied by Resolute which won the following three races in succession. Sir Thomas challenged for the fifth and final time in 1930 with Shamrock V where he was again defeated, this time by Enterprise. Despite retiring without ever lifting the cup he was presented with a gold medal for his unerring sportsmanship.
