First edition, presentation copy, inscribed in Danish, "Your Honor Mad. J. C. Rosenørn, supreme lady-in-waiting to Her Majesty, Queen-Dowager Caroline Amalie, cordially and most respectfully, H. C. Andersen." Ingeborg Christiane Rosenørn was married to the Lord Chamberlain, Peder Otto Rosenørn. She served as matron for the queen's charitable institution from 1843 and supreme lady-in-waiting from 1845.
