Catalogue Note
Salinger was among a number of cadets of the 1936 First Class who signed the present yearbook for second classman Paul Gravel. Salinger has inscribed his portrait with a now-obscure topical allusion: "Best of luck to the guy that will put hilden out of business."
Among other activities, Salinger is identified as the literary editor of Crossed Sabres. Valley Forge Military Academy served as the model for Holden Caulfield's Pency Prep.
