13-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, arcaded chapter ring, matted centre with seconds dial and calendar aperture, signed on an arched plaque J P Kroese, subsidiary strike/silent and tune selection dials, moon disc in the foliate engraved arch, massive six pillar movement Dutch striking on two bells and playing four tunes with seventeen hammers on ten bells, the case surmounted by a giltwood figure of Atlas flanked by two winged females above an arched moulded cornice and foliate fretwork panel, turned hood pilasters and fetwork side panels, shaped trunk door with gilt-mounted lenticle, the bombĂ© plinth raised on ball and claw feet, the whole veneered in well figured wood and inlaid with chequered banding
