A blue and white porcelain snuff bottle 1780-1830
bidding is closed
Description
of ovoid form, painted with formalized Indian lotus flower-heads borne on meandering scrolls
Catalogue Note
This is one of a series of nineteenth-century blue-and-white snuff bottles of ovoid or cylindrical form with Indian-lotus decoration. They match a series of similarly decorated snuff dishes, and were presumably made to be used together. This example is unusually well drawn and of good, vivid color.
