Description

on low ring foot and once supporting a lid, the flaring sides painted with the main scene of four figures in a ceremonial audience, the naked standing figure draped in long bead necklace supporting a wide tripartite pendant, and facing a figure seated on a low bench with monster heads at each end, the deity wearing a long-snouted mask, a sprouting element between them perhaps a cacao tree, behind two similar-headed figures seated and standing, and holding scrolling elements, perhaps part of a headdress, with three panels behind each of a seated figure facing left, holding similar accoutrements of the long-nosed monster headdress, and with numerous foliated elements in the field, the basal flange decorated with stepped motifs.
