London’s forthcoming Fine Jewels sale on 5 June includes an eclectic array of pieces, with a strong emphasis on jewels from the ‘Jazz Age’, including jewels by renowned makers such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Boucheron.
Additional highlights include an 18th-century ‘Sacred Heart’ brooch, formerly from the collection of the jewelry historian Dame Joan Evans and acquired by the current vendor, a producer on ‘Game of Thrones’, due to its similar iconography to the series flaming heart motif.
The sale also presents a unique suite by the seminal 1960s designer Charles de Temple, which includes a tiara in his signature style, believed to be the only one made. Also from de Temple is the iconic ‘All the Time in the World’ ring, one of only two made for James Bond’s fateful wedding in the 1969 film ‘Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.
With impressive period jewels from the collections of the Earl of Mar and Kellie, Annie, Viscountess Cowdray, Charlie Chaplin and Mrs Evelyn St George, who conducted a very open affair with the artist Wlliam Orpen in the 1900s, there is something in this sale to suit all tastes and styles.
