The Masterpiece Collection is a remarkable treasure-trove amassed by a collector renowned for being a true connoisseur in the field of art and wine. Bordeaux classics from four decades form the core and benchmark 1982s feature strongly.
It is studded with all the First Growths, and also includes stars such as La Mission Haut Brion, Cheval Blanc, Ausone along with other top St. Emilion and Pomerol. Petrus from the 1975 to the 1998 vintages is almost startling, especially for collectors who prize magnums. Large formats are a standout throughout with Double Magnums of Lafite, Latour, Margaux and Mouton 1982, Petrus 1970 and 1989, a Jeroboam of Latour 1990 and an Imperial of Cheval Blanc 1983.
A final flourish comes courtesy of a glimpse of Yquem 1967 and 1997, top White Burgundy and Red Rhône, plus a cache of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1995. Comprising of 194 lots with a combined pre-sale estimate in the region of £1.3 million, this exceptional collection will be offered in a dedicated morning auction, to be followed by a Finest and Rarest sale in the afternoon.
