Sotheby’s Modern & Post-War British Art Department is honoured to present Art/Identity/Migration: Property from Ben Uri Gallery and Museum, sold to fund acquisitions; the Ben Uri Research Unit, dedicated to the study of the immigrant contribution to British visual arts since 1900; and the expansion of the Ben Uri Arts and Dementia Institute. Highlights of this important group, to be sold across our Evening and Day sales this November, include five masterworks by David Bomberg, as well as further important examples by Frank Auerbach, Mark Gertler and Alfred Wolmark. Further works by Simeon Solomon and Solomon Joseph Solomon will be included in our Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art in December.
Our forthcoming sale also features an array of fresh-to-market works by some of the most celebrated and sought-after names of the 20th century – including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, William Roberts, Winston Churchill, William Scott, Lynn Chadwick, William Turnbull, Gillian Ayres, Euan Uglow, Frank Auerbach and Antony Gormley.
