The Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale leads with exceptionally strong sculptural works, including a richly patinated bronze Entité ailée by Jean Arp, a unique polished terracotta with gold leaf by Alexander Archipenko and a marvelous Puma by Rembrandt Bugatti. A comprehensive group of paintings and works on paper by Francis Picabia demonstrates the extraordinary range and scope of his practice, while an outstanding group of sculptures and furniture by Alberto and Diego Giacometti offers the opportunity to acquire significant objects by the Swiss brothers. We are delighted to offer a fascinating decalcomania oil from 1937 by Salvador Dalí alongside a specially executed Eye of Time brooch, as well as an abstract work on sandpaper by Joan Miró from the private collection of Renate and Robert Motherwell. An exceptional selection of nude Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele drawings are complimented by strong examples of German Expressionism by Max Pechstein, Emil Nolde and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Frédéric Bazille’s exceedingly rare and important painting Thérèse lisant dans le parc de Meric, once in the collection of its sitter Thérèse des Hours, is offered on the market for the first time alongside beautiful Impressionist paintings by Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Henri Le Sidaner and Claude Monet.
