The Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale is highlighted by an outstanding group of sculpture from the Bloch family collection, including works by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Arp, Henri Laurens, Jean Dubuffet and Alexander Calder.
A diverse selection of paintings and works on paper by the leading artists of the late 19th and 20th centuries are also included within the sale. A stunning and vibrantly coloured example of Max Ernst’s mature Surrealist practice, Enfants jouant à l'astronaute, leads the sale, along with two important Futurist works by Giacomo Balla and a significant early Marc Chagall work on paper, Variante pour 'La Fuite' ou 'La Dispute'. In addition, beautiful landscapes and still lifes by Gustave Loiseau, Henri Le Sidaner and Moise Kisling feature alongside a wonderful array of Modern works by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Georges Braque, Emil Nolde and Rudolf Bauer, amongst others.
